Hey, I know we differ on things...but here has been my views on Fear.
'There is nothing to Fear, but Fear itself.' How true is that? This nation, this GREAT Nation has survived a Revolutionary War, a Civil War, 2 World Wars and 2 MAJOR attacks on US soil. We fought to protect ourselves in the first 2, we fought to protect the world in the last 2. Now, we fight for both.
People fear that Bush will lead us to WW III. Perhaps it started in 1993, with the first WTC attack. Perhaps we didn't pay enough attention to that, so they attacked the USS Cole in 2000. So, again, we didn't pay enough attention so in 2001, we had our worst tragedy. Now, people will blame Bush for this. Bush didn't send the planes, OBL did. Bush responded. Bush did NOT prevent 09/11/01. But the US Government knew about al Queda using planes as a weapon since the Clinton era. So BOTH Clinton and Bush are at fault.
People also fear another attack from OBL and al Queda. Well, it has been a threat for 3 years. It hasn't happened yet. If the US was so afraid of OBL, why didn't we take him out the 3 times we had him in our sights under the Clinton era? Again, BOTH sides screwed up. We had the chance, multiple times to take him out.
Economy? Jobs? Well, as people may or may not know, I was laid off recently. I've got an interview tomorrow for a keyholder position (and barring that, I'll get a seasonal part time). Not the greatest, but I've turned it around in 4 days.
I think that a LOT of people have some partisan fears. This is understandable. I had MANY partisan fears under the Clinton era. Most of them were unfounded. Some came true. It will take time to find out if anybody's current fears are proven or completely unfounded. I'm going to go out on a limb here and be *GASP* optimistic and say that we, as a Nation, are going to be okay.

Respect is something that is earned.
on the others issues, I supsect that education, incarceration and extermination will solve all those problems.
