Ahh.. Monday Night.. First day of March.. "Beware the Ides of March..."
That's March 5th, right..? Something like that.. but anyway..

I got to see The Passion of Christ Sunday.. That movie was.. something..
I completely understand now why everyone I know who has seen it were unable to tell me whether they liked it or not.. All they could say was how violent it was..

I'm sorry to say, my sweet ones, but um.. Duh.. Crucification wasn't exactly a walk through a bed of roses, I would not think..
As for that whole controversy.. what controversy? There shouldn't even have been a controversy..
Granted, my recollection of how I read about Jesus being crucified might be a little rusty as it's been oooh.. quite a long time since I've last read a bible.. But.. weren't the Pharises(sp) Jewish? Didn't they want him killed?
Yes, the Romans carried the sentence out.. but isn't that how the story went? And yes, I also know about all the buzz going on about Mel Gibson and his attitudes/beliefs and those of his family. *shrug* Well.. I didn't pay to see the movie. And I wanted to see it anyway.

So where exactly is this controversy..? If I did happen to miss something though please feel free to enlighten me..

I went to see it with Bea and her mommy and my mommy and a few other family friends. We were supposed to have seen it at 5pm, but when we got to the theatre, her friend who's church had gotten the tickets said that we were given the 7pm showing. Definitely not a problem as a few of us were hungry and we all decided to go down the street to Chili's (Bea and I played chauffer to our mothers and the others as we were driving both cars there) and hang for a few until it was time.. Bea sat all the 'old folks' (roflrofl) at one table and me, her, Tangie and Donna at the table next to them. We had so much fun with our waiter just being funny and fussing at him and teasing him and all around messing with the poor boy. That child was just so on point though.. even when the 'elders' were giving him a little bit of a hard time (you know how them old~timers can get *grin*), he was so pleasant and took everything in stride.. He obviously understood how fussy some can get, and he made sure that glasses didn't stay empty long. He was very attentive and just plain adorable. We found out that we were his first table and it was only his 3rd day on the job. Wow.. We got him before he became all jaded and everything. It's nice to get them while they're all innocent and stuff. *grin*

One thing that had Bea and I looking at each other going "Well.. It would really make sense to put THAT there", was the making of/preview for Van Hellsing (which I will be seeing) they decided to show during the slew of commercials before the movie started. And then the American Express commercial where they spoofed Caddyshack with Tiger Woods going to war against the gopher (who did dance of course at the end *giggle*) was good for a few chuckles. I wouldn't say he's the consumate actor, but meh.. If ya wanna go for corny/cheesy/silly.. he's your guy.. Okay okay so he actually has an acting bone or two in his body.. And he's a bit on the cute side.. It works.

The movie though.. That movie was an experience. No matter who you are, or what path you walk or what you believe, that movie will affect you. It concentrates (obviously) mainly on the events that took place from the Garden of Gethsemane(sp) to the crucifiction itself. There were other scenes here and there that were more like flashbacks and touched upon him as a child and a human man (lest those of you out there forget that for all of whatever divinity he had/has, he lived and grew up as a human being), and a prophet (yeah I realise I'm prolly gonna get shot for having said it that way but deal with it). It's a very brutal movie from start to end. I was expecting that though. The emotion of the movie is very raw as well. I doubt there were many dry eyes in the whole theatre. There were more than a few instances of people flat out sobbing during certain scenes (won't say which ones in case anyone reading this has the intention to see the movie, though I'm more than sure you can figure out which scenes they were). I didn't do more than cringe/wince/cover my eyes through~out most of the movie (yeah yeah go ahead, call me a cold~hearted wench if'n ya want, whatever), but what really got me was Mary. I mean, just having to know that your own child has to go through something like that, and not having the power to either stop it or take his place so he wouldn't have to. She was so heartbroken. But she's in my book as being one of the strongest women ever alive. She was there with him through the whole thing, even if she couldn't
be right by his side. That was what had me crying.

The Passion of Christ will tire you out emotionally and make your head spin. At the end of the movie some people had started to clap, but then they seemed to think that it would have been sacriligious to do so. Others just sat there in their seats in a daze just watching the credits roll. The whole atmosphere was hushed..
And now I have a thing for Aramaic and Latin meh..

I'm telling you though.. If I had been given the choice to go through that??
Oh HELL no..
I'd be like "You want me to do WHAT? For WHO? The hell with THAT!"
And let them have been even trying to scourge me like that.. Oooh. The bible would have had things written MUCH more differently..

Not me boo.. Not me..

But something tells me that movie is one I will end up getting the dvd for.. I probably wouldn't be able to watch it again though I'd play it so I could just listen to them speak..
I do wish you could have come with us [livejournal.com profile] vernard.. I had (and still do) quite a few questions/ponderings/musings for you. If you do get the chance to see the movie I'd be willing to come along! *huggle*

Anyway.. Today was Mother Nature's last day of showing me who the True Queen Bitch was (and many of you seem so sure it's Lilith bah).. Dealing with her dropping in to visit with me for a few days the day after I played the Energy Transfer Dance with [livejournal.com profile] scendera (so it wasn't just you, dear one *grin*) and Yanine (who is more than worth my energy fluctuating between sick/AWAKE/fever/ZING!/yucky/WHOA/etc that night) has made my mind all sorts of "bleah" for the better part of a week or so. But Yanine is one of the beloved ones and you're durned tooting [livejournal.com profile] scendera and I would do whatever necessary to try to make her as comfy as we can. But now my energy is pretty much back in whatever balance I like to think it's usually in and my brain doesn't feel like it's been packed with cotton.. I can finally take care of things that I had to put on the backburner again.. bah.

Meh.. I'm supposed to be asleep now.. I'll get there soon enough.. Just knew that if I put this post off another day it might not end up happening *grin*

On to the Quizes!

Sagittarius Drinking style:

When battered, they'll spill all your secrets and many of their own.
Tactlessness aside, Sagittarius is just plain fun to drink with.
This is a sign of serious partying (what else would you expect from the sign
of Sinatra, Keith Richards, the Bush twins and Anna Nicole Smith?).
They're the people who chat up everyone in the room, then persuade the
entire crowd to travel somewhere else -- like a nightclub, or a
playground, or Cancun. Good-natured hijinks are sure to ensue (including a
high possibility of loopy groping; spontaneous Sag is a brilliant booty call).
Alcohoroscopes - what do the stars say about your drinking style?

Hrmm.. I've never ever been to the point where I start telling my friends secrets..
Loopy groping?! Are you trying to insinuate that I'm a slut or something?!
What's wrong with a little loopy groping here and there..? Hmm?!

*cough*

Erm.. um.. anyway..
