Putting this out there now..

Since I was actually asked by darlings who wanted to make sure of the date in a more.. um.. timely matter.. *grin*.

This year's 4th of July party is for all intents and purposes (I swear, the next time I see someone type 'for all intensive purposes'.. I know my grammar ain't always on point much these days - to the shame of The Mom, but still...), on. Due to how the calendar is for July, the 4th is actually on a Friday.. or was it Thursday?

So, The Mom and I are waffling between that Saturday before, or the Saturday right after the 4th. Since we don't do the booms much anymore if the 4th itself doesn't fall on a Saturday, it pretty much doesn't matter.. This is mainly put out here at the request of a small number who had shown interest in making it here from out of state. I promise The Mom and I will have a more concrete decision made by June.

Now, as for Thanksgiving.. That in itself is still up in the air because The Mom has made it known that she will be in Philly to celebrate with her sisters, then bring Dollie back down with her right before Christmas to spend it with us. I do not know if I will be up there for at least Thanksgiving itself (there's no way I would be able to stay with them until Christmas, for my sanity or otherwise), but if I'm to be here during then, chances are that I will probably have Dinner for you darlings. Dunno if there will be the usual crab legs and/or catfish during Thanksgiving, but there will definitely be the turkey hehe..

I might date this in such a way as to keep it at the top of my LJ; we'll see.

Now, to take care of a few things here so that I can a bit more chatty later. =)

hmmm...is the place you get the crabs open on the 4th? I thought I recalled that last year you picked up the crabs a day ahead of the party and if the party is on the 5th...just pondering. LOL.

Oh, don't worry about that. We put in the order for the crab legs and/or catfish like 2 weeks ahead of time, then pick them up early the morning of the party. *grin* No way could we keep them overnight; no place to keep them safe and cold til the party if we tried.

We get our seafood from Whole Foods, btw.

oh! good to know...if we ever have monies again! LOL. I don't know if we'll make it this year or not. We spend most weekends doing something or other to that damned house near Athens...or our own. Too much to do and way too little time. Damned real world interferring with fun.

Weekend before is doable for me for the 4th. Weekend of, I will be in IL for a wedding.

Love to go though. I haven't seen you since last 4th. Not to mention I need to teach some of that crowd how to play fluxx.

Well, I took another quick look at the calendar, and it seems that the 4th is on a Friday. Don't know if Whole Foods is gonna be open that day, and don't wanna take chances that will make us miss that seafood goodness, my guess is that the party will be the Saturday before.. =)
